Trust an awarded leading brand, choose the □□□□□□□□ Rocks Whiskey Chilling Stones. Fast-cooling non-diluting round solid granite stones used to perfectly cool fine spirits without watering down your drink. They are also available for $19.95 from Sur La Table and Vat19. You can cart home a set from ThinkGeek for $19.99. Each set comes with a cushy muslin drawstring pouch and nine (9) of these Whiskey Stones. Plus they look a lot cooler than ice cubes in your glass. I can’t really relate but I’m sure die-hard whiskey lovers (or anyone that doesn’t like their drinks diluted) will love these. They’re actually made of soapstone, an actual metamorphic rock worked from the earth, that can take the place of ice in your whiskey glass to give you the slight chill that would make your drink absolute perfection, without the added H2O. These literally look like tiny blocks of cube-shaped rocks. That aside, I’ve heard a few friends complain just how much they hate it when the ice cubes in their shots of whiskey melt and waters down their drink. However, I’m surrounded by a lot of folks who enjoy a few rounds of drinks every now and then, even though all I ask from the bar is a glass of apple cider when I tag along with them. (I have an aldehyde dehydrogenase deficiency-aka I get the Asian flush after a sip or two of a beverage containing alcohol.) However, I wouldn’t personally use them with whiskey simply because I’m not a big fan of alcoholic drinks. These are especially useful for drinks like fine whiskey that are ruined when they get watered down. They are made of stone though, being handcrafted in the USA from a select type of soapstone found only in Vermont. They are simply a great way of keeping your drink (such as whiskey) cold without watering it down. Merchants call these Whiskey Stones, but there isn’t a drop of whiskey in them.
